The starting age for attending a boarding school can already be very early. There are some boarding schools which are called the kindergarten boarding school, where parents can already send their two-year child to. These boarding schools are not very common, but it is possible to send your two-year child to a kindergarten boarding school. The children can be sent to a boarding school between the age of 2 and 18 years old. On some boarding schools there are differences between the entering age of girls and the age of boys. Some preparatory schools for example accept the boys to enter at an age of eight and the girls at an age of eleven. It always depends which grades the boarding school offers to see at which age a pupil can enter it.

To know the entering age of a specific boarding school, the best thing to search information about the school, call the school, or just simply visit the boarding school. When visiting the boarding school, you will also have the possibility to see how the school is and talk with the students and/or faculty to have a better view on the boarding school you might take your decision on.
