Boarding and Day schools are learning institutions in the US and other progressive countries of the world that operate both day schooling and boarding programs. They are owned by the government, private corporations, or religious orders. Some schools accept day schooling for elementary students and boarding programs for high schools while other schools accept elementary and college prep students for boarding and day programs.

To properly differentiate the programs the following are basic information you should know so that you can have good choices.

Day School programs

In a school that accepts both day schooling and boarding offer separate package for day school program. The semestral expenses are much lower than their boarding school because students are not paying for boarding and lodging and other school facilities. Parents only pay the tuition and other matriculation fees. In a day school program, the students enter in the school in the morning and leave the school three hours after for lunch. Students also come back at exactly 1:00 pm for other subject matters. However, there are schools that also have classes in the morning only or afternoon only. This is to help parents cut expenses of transportation but the schooling reach until seventh grade. Those students that have classes in the morning and afternoon are only until the sixth grade – after which they are then ready to enter high school education.

Boarding school programs

In a school that accept both day schooling and boarding program for elementary or junior students the boarding has different package than their day schooling program. Of course it has higher fees since enrolled students have to pay for board and lodging and other school facilities. International students are usually enrolled in a boarding program as well as students of the same country that are far from their origin. They live in residential houses at the schools compound and have to follow special school program for boarding schools.
