Boarding schools for less fortunate kids

Mar Fri 13th, 2009 by outsourcing

School children from broken homes, service families and children whose parents work abroad are the subject of the state boarding school projects that will be implemented soon by the government as well as concerned people in the academe and non-government organizations. The project is a concerted effort and considered as among the major endeavor of state boarding schools in the last few years.

State boarding schools in Britain that are members of the Boarding Schools Association (BSA) advise the academies showing interest in creating student accommodation. The BSA is consists of 500 paying state boarding school members. A report said there are over 100 pupils ready to board at the government-funded boarding school in partnership with the Welling College, which is a fee-paying school in Britain.

Hilary Moriarty, BSA director said many parents are now realizing that the boarding school system is really a wonderful experience for children. Through the private schools as well as government-funded schools, the education value of students is much higher.

There are now at least 35 state boarding schools in Britain that only charge accommodation and give the tuition for free only. This means the government in Britain is also concerned of the education of the people especially the young generation. Even the online degree program is also considered now in Britain to give expanded education program.

As the program in state boarding schools progresses, the boarding numbers of pupils has also increased last year. It started from an official enrollment record of 3,735 students to up to 3,846 students. The increase in number is attributed in the so-called facility expansion for the girl population in state-funded boarding schools.

Paul Spencer, State Boarding Schools’ Association chair and Royal Alexandra and Albert School headmaster, said the demand for more boarding schools is up which means improvement in the campaign for this type of educational program.
