Many parents in the US who are Roman Catholics by faith also prefer their students be enrolled in Catholic run boarding schools so that they can learn very well the value of faith in God as well as to all fellowmen. The same is also true with other schools such as Christian boarding schools, and other religious schools.
Catholic boarding schools in the US and Europe have these usual characteristics which both parents and students should look into.
1. Smaller class sizes – School administrators in Catholic boarding schools always see to it that students are group in smaller sizes so that there is too much attention given to every student most especially during class interactions. It is always a fact that when students are given special attention by their teachers they can easily learn even in difficult discussions.
2. Safer environment – Parents are assured their children are in safer environment simply because they are thought proper values, faith in God and all other strategies in teaching under the religious instructions of credible and highly skilled educators.
3. Challenging academic program – The Catholic boarding schools in the US also use traditional but more challenging medium of instructions. This is made in order to better prepare the students when they enter college education. In fact, parents are all but praises to the kind of teaching these catholic-run schools have been implementing.
4. People with similar interests – In Catholic boarding schools there is always the so-called meeting of the minds because students and their teachers have similar interest especially in religion. This means they can easily interact with each other and get to know even only for several days of the opening of classes.
5. Strong emphasis on values – Usually, catholic boarding schools have strong emphasis on values as well as character education. This is also the reason why parents of the students want their children enrolled in religious-oriented schools.
6. Greater outdoor opportunities – Students have also greater opportunities to play outdoors to cool off their stresses in class. The school has a good system of implementing several school sports which would take out stress in their students as well as relax them from the busy class schedules. This strategy is also the same with many schools world wide that are also having boarding schools. In fact, others allow their students to watch movies during spare time.
7. Structured study hours – The also has also emphasize the importance of study hours among students so that they need to structure a study hour program for the students. The system is also proven to work.
8. Motivational programs – Educators also do not forget the insertion of motivational programs especially during class interactions.
