Private boarding schools vs traditional boarding schools
Mar Thu 15th, 2007 by admin
Many parents are increasingly concerned with their children’s education. It is not an easy decision to make, especially when they have to choose among all types of different schools. The choice of a right school is not something one should take lightly or decide haphazardly. As a parent, choosing the best school for your child is probably one of the most difficult and most important decisions you will have to make. It is important to take into consideration every option you have. You are already decided for yourself in favour of boarding schools. Have you ever thought about sending your child to private boarding school?
Traditional boarding schools have high standards for enrolling students. They often excel at educating students academically and their students show greater self-sufficiency and increased self-confidence. For parents, this also means that their children experience a lot of personal growth and are well prepared for the college life. Another advantage of boarding school is that your child will be exposed to a greate variety of individuals and cultures as they admit students from different countries.
Main benefits of the private boarding schools
Private boarding schools do not depend upon federal, state or local government funds. As they are financially independent and run by private trusts, they decide on their own curriculum and admission process. Private boarding schools are deeply concerned with the academics and help students be accepted into major colleges in the country. Private boarding schools’ curriculum includes math, history, English, geography, economics, biology, chemistry, French, Spanish, social studies, science and other subjects. The assessment system is based on continuous examinations and parents are regularly sent the grade report cards.
Private boarding schools also focus on art and physical education. Performing arts such as dance, music and drama is an important activity that boost the personal development of the students. Outdoor activities like rugby, basketball, tennis, soccer, sailing, volleyball benefit the students’ physical development.
Before sending your child to any boarding school, traditional or private, find out the advantages and disadvantages of each type of school. But even more crucial is to find out what is most important to your child. Stay involved with his or her education, friends and activities.
