Boarding schools threaten by unstable financesMaryland - The oldest boarding school in Maryland is feared to close shop if school officials are not able to look for additional One Million Dollars investment every year. The information was based on a letter asking for support from the school’s alumni and their respective families. The school head, Dede Alexandre LeComte, admitted the school has come to a difficulty nowadays that it could no longer financed additional investments to serve the public for many years. Like the Oldfields School, there are also many boarding schools in North America that are now having financial problems but are currently subsidized by the US government. One third percent of the students school fees is now being subsidized by the government, it was learned. Oldfield Girl Boarding School is already a 140-year-old school yet even if it has already achieve so much as far as leading the youth to become successful citizens, the school has also come to a point it would be challenged by financial difficulties, according to Le Comte.

The boarding school is now seeking the kind and generous help of its previous students. LeComte admitted that if the school’s financial “shaky” financial staus remains unsolved she is afraid something bad like closing the school is to happen by June 2009. She said the school is really in serious condition and it needs the support of philanthropic individuals and alumni to help build it again to continue serving. It has committed to serve for more than 100 years and yet it’s nearing to its final moment in history.

The Oldfields was founded in 1867 and it’s Maryland’s oldest girl boarding school in the country. It only over 160 students in grades eight through 12, mostly coming from Mid-Atlantic region, including Mexico China and Nepal. The school also has around 33 full time academic teaching staff and another 40 other members.

Located in Glencoe in northern Baltimore County, the school has more than 160 students in grades eight through 12 from 17 states - mostly in the Mid-Atlantic region - and seven countries, including China, Mexico and Nepal. The school employs 33 full-time teachers and about 40 other staff members.
