How to succeed in high boarding schools
Mar Thu 22nd, 2007 by admin
Be aware, high school is no more about coasting at school. It is now all about endurance. With the increasing competition for high-demand courses and tuition fees in colleges, getting good grades is becoming more and more of a necessity. Good grades mean you get the college admission you want and scholarship you need.
Things to do to excel in high boarding school
1. Think carefully before enrolling in classes. Read the class descriptions to choose those that will be right for you. Take a look at the textbooks and keep in mind the subjects necessary to follow your intended career. Make sure that you have chosen the right classes for you.
2. Get good tutors. Good tutors know how to get through to you, how to make classes fun and make you understand concepts. Find a class with students above your level, this will motivate you.
3. Maintain high standards. Find ways to motivate yourself and convince yourself that it is important for you to get in elite college. Promise yourself to do your best to achieve this goal.
4. Study hard and stay in touch. Constantly stay in touch with the material you have covered. Review the material regularly and do not fall behind.
5. Do not do only your homework but also some extra. Do your homework and once you have finished with it do some extra work. You can solve past test papers of different exams or learn some advanced strategies to help you with learning problems.
6. Set limits for yourself. Do not overwork. Work as long as you can and then take a 5 minute break. Gradually work your way up. Do your homework, take a ten minute breather and after that go back to work.
7. Form study groups with friends. Find the convenient time and fix meetings bi-weekly. If you feel like aligning classes with friends, make sure you are not just chatting.
8. Find your way to study. Be creative when you feel that you fall behind on a work assignment. Try to keep your grades up, do not just give up. Learn art of cramming.
Whether you are going to high school or boarding school, you will have to be motivated and patient to succeed in your studies.
