How to be admired and respected in high school?
Mar Sat 31st, 2007 by admin
You want to be admired and respected in your high school. Here are some useful tips for you.
Do’s and dont’s
If you want to gain the respect of your schoolmates, do not be annoying and be intelligent. Try not to be disrespectful of others and learn to treat others the way you want to be treated. If someone asks you for help, help him without asking anything in return. Do be modest, people do not like ‘showoffs’. Learn to accept compliments naturally as well as return them graciously. After people see that you speak modestly about yourself, they will start to compliment you. Avoid to attack or offend others either in verbal or physical way. If you are offended and have to react, try to stick on the defensive to make your offender look bad. Should it be difficult to survive in some public schools, returning the insult is never the best thing to do.
Learn to accept criticism, because it is the best way to get on in a community. Constructive criticisms may be very enriching unless they start to affect your reputation. If someone tries to damage your reputation, take action to clear your name. Do everything you possibly can to be extraordinary and try hard to rise up above the others. Go above and beyond!
Do not let people walk all over you. Avoid being rude to your classmates for no reason, but do not accept someone to do it to you. Stand for yourself! Learn to be critical of your close friends. Some of them will probably disappoint you, others may start to hang out in different social circles. You do not have to cut yourself off from your friends; you just have to remember not to tell them anything that you would not want the whole school knowing. Do not do things you are not comfortable with no matter what. If you do not feel like having a drink or going out, that is okay.
Try hard to be an active participant in classes. Make sure your voice is heard and try to give the right answers. Do not ask many questions; at least avoid asking too many questions in front of the entire class. If it is possible save them for the end of the period and then ask your teacher after the classes. Stay on top of your homework. Sometimes it might be boring doing it but it is better for you in the long run. It would not be funny if you have to repeat semesters.
Warnings
Avoid at all costs getting into trouble or getting suspended, if you do not want to be sent to a military school. Found someone you can trust to talk to. It could be a parent, a relative, a counselor. Do not cut yourself off the world when you get down!
